I have what looks like a purple bug in my saltwater aquarium. What is it?
I have what looks like a purple bug in my Tank Water salt. What is it? He adds nothing new and latley just found tonight. Help!
Sounds like it could be some sort of amphipods. By Example: If http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Hyperia.jpg well, amphipods are small crustaceans, usually feeding on plankton and detritus. Are generally quite harmless, and serve as scavengers small, remaining pieces of fish waste and food not consumed .. microcrustaceans as these (and others) hitchike frequency in the tank Live Rock and live sand. Many will be consumed by fish in time, but some continue to thrive. Due to its small size, are very good at hiding.
