I want a 50 gallon freshwater aquarium for my house are they easy to take care of?
Hi, i really want a freshwater aquarium for my house. Im wondering if they are hard to clean and keep the tank healthy. Does anyone know if they are?
Actually, the bigger the tank, the easier to maintain and you will have less problems with any fish.
If you are wanting to go tropical, its not too hard. Make sure you do your research first.
Here are some main things you need to research
Water changes (never put tap water straight into the Fish Tank unless its coming from rain water tank supply) Either leave it to sit for 24 hours so the chlorine’s in the water aren’t present anymore, or buy dechlorinating solution from the pet store.
pH levels, ammonia levels, nitrate and nitrite levels
Cycling your tank before adding fish, or you can cycle it with a couple of hardy fish
Filtration
Lighting (Never keep your tank in contact with direct sunlight…natural light will cause problems for the plants, fish, and promotes algae growth
Research what fish are compatible and what their needs are….mixing the wrong fish can cause problems. Adding fish to your tank that dont go with your water conditions can also cause alot of problems.
Temperature
Once you have researched all of the above…its not rocket science and you shouldn’t have too many problems
