How often should I change the filter cartridge?
I have a Whisper 5-15 for a month and a half. I went to Walmart and got some new cartridges just in case. The tank is fairly clean, although some algae is starting to grow the heater.
I change mine (also weeks 6 Whisper) about every 4 -, but can last longer – the time and considerable water flow through it is moving. Sometimes I "sludge" to the moving water records or whatever, so wait a day or two and change quickly as you can connect! The Sponge Filter and screen in the house of bacterial colonies useful, which is helping to keep water clear. So, generally do not change the filter while I Change the water – to maintain a stable supply of bacteria in the system. I also add a "cycle" at each change of water to replenish kill bacteria.
