Butterfly Koi

Are dragon gobies, or butterfly Koi Fish ever been known to be aggressive at any point in time?
My mom has a butterfly koi that was introduced to some very old fancy tail goldfish that were in the tank before the koi was, and also a dragon goby was put in the tank at the same time the koi was. Here recently, something in the tank has killed everything except the koi the goby, and one goldfish, therewas also a plecosamos in there to, that to is dead. There is one goldfish that did survive the whole ordeal, but it is still beat up pretty bad, we think it is gonna pull through though. Does anyone out there know what would have caused this? The fish belonged to my sister, and now she has almost nothing left. She doesn’t know yet that her fish died. Any suggestions on how to let her know would be greatly appreciated.
First I would have to ask a few questions here. How large is the tank and how long has it been up and running? You said very old gold fish are they 20 years old or older? Gold fish can live in excess of 40 ears with Koi living over 100.
If the koi and the gobie were added at the same time it is very possiable the biofilter spiked causing all of the fish to become exposed to the ammonia. This will cause most fish to suck air from the surface. If there are too many fish doing this the larger ones will fight for the air.
What are your water readings?
Koi can and are very aggressive fish when their living space is compromised.
Your Dragon is more than likely the culprit here. They are known to eat other fish Although dragons can reach lengths of over 2 feet they will rarely get 14-15 inches in a tank. Dragon gobies are actually brackish water fish that need warmer waters. And should NOT be kept in a cold fresh water tank. They can survive in a fresh warm water tank if acclamated correctly but this shortens their life span. Some dragons won’t acclimate. He really should not be in this cold water tank.
I don’t know how old your sister is. I always found telling the truth or close to it to a youngster is always best. Tell her her fish were old and went to heaven. Or tell her the truth, the dragon monster ate them. It is never easy when this happens
